ASHRAE TC 9.7 is concerned with the application of heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, life safety, and energy conservation systems to educational facilities.

ASHRAE TC 9.7  is always looking for dependable volunteers.  No matter what levels of expertise or experience, you can
contribute!  Joining is free, you can join at anytime, and you don't need to be a paying dues member of ASHRAE to join a Technical Committee.

What is a Technical Committee?

What other ASHRAE Technical Committees (TCs) are available for me to participate in?

What are the three types of Technical Committee membership?

  • Voting Member (4 Year Term)
    • *  Voting members have the responsibility to approve actions initiated by the committee. 
    • *  To be eligible:
      • Must have served at least one year as a Corresponding Members (CM).
      • Be active in the committee.
      • Be recommended by the current Voting Members.
      • Be the only employee of their company that would be a Voting Member for the term.
        • (No more than one voting member of a given TC may be from the same firm/corporation.)
  •  
  • Corresponding Member (CM)
    • *  Most members of a technical committee Corresponding Members (CM).
    • *  A CM does not vote but does have the responsibility to provide their expertise to the committee during discussions.
    • *  If appointed by the TC Chair, a PCM status switches to CM status on July 1st, with the new society year.
  •  
  • Provisional Corresponding Member (PCM) 
    • *  All new TC members are appointed as Provisional Corresponding Members (PCMs) upon joining a TC.
    • *  A PCM does not vote but does have the responsibility to provide their expertise to the committee during discussions.
    • *  Every year, the TC Chair considers moving a PCM to CM based on activity and involvement in the committee.
    • *  A PCM rolls off after two years if they do not advance to Corresponding Member (CM) status
    •  

Remember - Anyone can attend a Technical Committee meeting. 

Participation in ASHRAE activities is an excellent way to advance your career – technically, personally, and from a business perspective. If you are involved in the HVAC&R field, or a closely related field, ASHRAE is the go-to organization for professional advancement.


 

Design Guidance for Education Facilities:
Prioritization for Advanced Indoor Air Quality

 

The scope and intent of this document is to provide guidance to Owners, Operators, Designers, and Professional Service Providers on how to best implement Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) improvements, including risk mitigation strategies, in educational facilities. The guidelines will also help facilitate discussion between designers and stakeholders, identify minimum recommendations and discuss further considerations to improve IAQ and reduce the risk of transmission of infectious pathogens and other contaminants of concern.

This document was developed by ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.7, Educational Facilities and has been approved by ASHRAE as a free download.
